Fisk Power Plant
This retrospective assignment included the working plant complex having +1,220,527 square feet of operatable building area located on +1,164,945 square feet or +26.743 acres. The coal fired steam engine (with Kerosene-fired back-up) plant had a maximum capacity of 590MWh and could theoretically produce enough energy to power over 455,000 homes. The Fisk Street Station (as it was known as) went into service October 2, 1903 having additions upuntil 1999.
Hoop Free Span Building
The hoop or clear-span complex had +289,227 square feet and was reported as the largest is the world. Hoop or clear-span buildings are new products. They are actually a revolutionary way to develop buildings. The structures are a treated special synthetic canvas like material with something called “PolyMax”.
When constructed in Reynolds Indiana this project was reportedly the largest anaerobic digestion system in the US having the potential to produce 55,188MWh annually. That is enough to power to meet the entire demands for the City of Hibbing, Minnesota. The word anaerobic was coined in Frances in 1863 by Louis Pasteur and came from the Greek root meaning “without.” It has come to mean living without oxygen.
U S Virgin Islands
Our assignment was to determine the diminution in value caused by toxic levels of methyl bromide in a number of high end condominiums within the Virgin Islands. Terminix LP, USVI illegally applied fumigants containing methyl bromide in 12 luxury residential condominium units located in the U.S. Virgin Islands that nearly killed a Delaware family of four in March 2015 after the unit below them was fumigated.
